A Sporting Place

Midland Area Home to Wide Variety of Athletic Venues

Midland has an array of sports and athletic facilities that appeal to a variety of ages and interests. Whether you enjoy watching, participating, or a bit of both, you’ll find lots to do.

The Great Lakes Loons, mid-Michigan’s only minor league baseball team, call Midland home, and their 5,500-seat Dow Diamond stadium is a great place to spend a spring or summer evening.

The Midland Community Tennis Center, one of the top 25 tennis centers in the country, hosts the annual Dow Corning Women’s Tennis Tournament, and offers private lessons and classes on its indoor and outdoor courts.

Midland Soccer Club operates 30 fields and programs for youth and adults in the spring, summer and fall.

Ice-skating and hockey fans have the Midland Civic Arena, a 107,000-square-foot facility with two ice rinks (NHL & Olympic) and one turf field.

Golfers can choose from three courses right in Midland: Currie Municipal Golf Course, Sandy Ridge and the Midland Country Club.

The Greater Midland Community Center covers everything else, with two indoor pools, racquetball courts, an indoor track, weight training and cardio centers, and indoor courts for basketball/volleyball/badminton/pickle ball—even an indoor climbing wall.
