Community Invited to Lunch Presentation about Downtown Holland Revitalization

The public is invited Thursday, April 14, to learn about the success and challenges of the Holland, Mich., downtown revitalization efforts, at Downtown Opportunity Summit: A Holland Case Study, hosted by Midland Tomorrow and Momentum Midland.

Special guests include Rich Lievense and Greg Holcombe, part of the Riverview Group, the organization that has championed the 28-year Holland effort. Lievense and Holcombe will share their community’s approach, touch on successes including how they added features such as an outdoor fireplace and heated sidewalks, and address some of their most significant challenges. They will then participate in a panel discussion with Midland community leaders who will provide insights into local efforts. The panel will be moderated by Bill Allen, CEO of the Midland Area Chamber of Commerce and Midland Tomorrow.

“As our community looks at new investment in the downtown,” said Allen, “it is helpful to learn from a community similar in size and demographics to Midland that has made comparable investments in its downtown.”

The summit will be at Dow Diamond, 825 E. Main Street, Midland, beginning at 11:30 a.m. with registration and lunch. The program is from noon – 1 p.m. Cost is $10 per person, payable at the door. Cash and checks only. Space is limited and RSVPs are required by April 8. The event will be recorded and posted to the Momentum Midland website at www.momentum-midland.org after the event.

To submit a question for the panelists in advance and to reserve your spot at the luncheon, go to www.momentum-midland.org/registration. For more information, contact ChelseaRae Rowley at crowley@momentum-midland.org or call 989-837-1226.
