    SBDC Offering Free Cyber Security Seminar

    Cyber Security Awareness Training

    SAGINAW, MI – The Michigan Small Business Development Center Great Lakes Bay Region is
    pleased to offer a cyber security awareness training, entitled “Small Business, Big Threat, at
    Delta College, on Friday, Jan. 29 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. There is no cost to attend.
    The cyber security awareness training is a part of the Michigan SBDC’s statewide initiative,
    aimed at educating small business owners and employees on ways to protect their business
    from a cyber-attack.

    Threats to Small Business

    Cyber security is an issue that potentially impacts every organization from large corporations,
    major government entities, to small businesses. However, small businesses are particularly at
    • Small businesses can be targeted due to the recognition that they may be more vulnerable
    • Small businesses often do not have the resources or expertise to proactively guard against cyber attacks
    • Small businesses typically lack resources or expertise to deal effectively with the aftermath of cyber attacks
    • Small businesses may not have the context to recognize the risk they face Targeted Businesses
    This initiative aims to seek participation from three small business sectors, including:
    • Small Business in General
    • Small Businesses Engaged in International Trade
    • Small Businesses in Underserved Communities
    As a part of the initiative, businesses can also use the online assessment tool
    (www.smallbusinessbigthreat.org) to evaluate their own cybersecurity knowledge and risk level.
    The assessment asks small business a series of questions about their risk, and then provides a
    risk assessment report.
